Inspired by a great post over at SSP about Curt Weldon's weirder history. (which is also linked in my post - great read)

3. the hospital bit is what gets me

Who the hell is Weldon to criticize a man for trying to save his child's life? Gee, maybe something ought to be done about PA hospitals if they are sub-standard.

5. I don't think it's an issue of the hospitals being "sub-standard" -

but some hospitals specialize in particular things. Also Joe was still in the Navy at the time. I think what Weldon was trying to get to is that Joe could've commuted to PA or DE if he was still that involved in this area (Joe grew up here) but he did it in an extremely crass way, and it's bullshit too because Joe's parents and some of his siblings still live around here, and he's come back to spend time with them over the years. He was in the Navy for crying out loud - of course he wasn't living in PA, he was living where he was stationed, like any normal military guy. When his daughter was diagnosed he made the best decision for her recovery and to be able to support her and be by her side.

What gets me though is the way that Joe talks about the experience...it seems he has taken a lot of positives from it. I haven't seen him since Weldon's attack came out but based on what I've seen, I can almost guarantee that it just bounced right off...and we can see that it bounced Joe's name right into some good visibility in the blogosphere. A crass attack, but damn did it boomerang on Curt.

6. You know, this came up with Sen. Kerry had his cancer surgery

in Baltimore at Johns Hopkins instead of coming home to Boston and the home hospitals. ("What's wrong with Mass hospitals" Ahm, some of that coverage was pretty funny actually, Then again, it didn't happen to me, so I'm also a be-yatch for saying that.)

I thought that was stupid for a grown man to go through. It is unconscionable for what a 5 year old child and that child's parent went through. MH, tell Sestak to go get this bastard.

or cle-ah. And that doesn't mean he isn't a friggin bastid in Bawstan. It's just that he's a bastard everywhere else as well.

I misunderstood. I thought Weldon was attacking Joe sort of along the lines; 'What, PA hospitals not good enough for you?' And had Sestak chosen a hospital somewhere else based on that the PA ones weren't good enough/specialized enough to help his child, it would have been understandable, as well.
