Latest Update at We Love John Kerry
Democrafty has a special tribute to that Washington Post blog entry on the viability of a JK run in 08, complete with JK Head Bullet Points!

6. Thanks for posting it
It was strange seeing some mannerisms he has till today although his voice, accent and hair have changed. He has amazingly thick hair. It seemed at the end that he confused the interviewer when he said he planned to talk to the administration. She seemed confused when he spoke of allocating money - as if she expected that he would be talking of ending the war, when in reality he was lobbying for money for veterans hospitals. (I can see the confusion over throwing the medals as he seems to say he did - obviously meaning the ribbons.)

2. Great, great post! You read my mind.

Throughout the night, I had this nagging thought about those comments at the WaPo blog. This morning, I when to the site to read some of the comments to make an assessment, but I couldn't get past the dissing (others) part. Here are my thoughts:

John Kerry is a hawk, though he's forever connected to the anti-war movement and one of its greatest speeches.
John Kerry ran a horrible campaign, even though he won and then conceded.
John Kerry lost to the worst president ever, though I'm not sure what that says about the candidates he beat out for the nomination. (Apologies for even going there. They are great Democrats, and it's clear my opinion of JK is that he's a great (shadow) president, and will be one of the greatest presidents.)

Thanks for that wonderful post!

Democrafty (Inventor of the JK Bullet! LOL!) and I are so pleased by your fabulous feedback!

Edited to add: thanks to Whome for that incredibly cool interview link -- I'd seen tiny clips of that, but never the whole thing. It was sad, in a way, to see how respectful and human a press interviewer could be back then; I loved that she wanted to be kept up to date on his progress re more aid for vets (you could tell she meant that.)

14. You could also see how anti-war
the country and press had become at that time. Kerry was asked when he realized the war was wrong and whether he was a hypocrytite for going. His answer was great. The underlying tone of the interview when he was speaking about having spoken up to his commanders in VN on the polices is so different than today. Having read Tour of Duty, it's clear that he and other young officers did try to push to change things.

I really can't imagine an interviewer now, speaking to a vet speaking up on any aspect of the Iraq war questioning if he should have done more. Remember there was a draft then, Kerry was being asked why he didn't refuse to go and why he obeyed orders. (Compare Kerry's treatment from the anti-war left to Paul Hackett's treatment )
