Announcing and creating open diary/thread for 10 AM speech

I'm not sure if anyone wants to start a diary on dKos and GD-P a few minutes before 10 AM both to inform readers of his speech on C-SPAN, and for people to watch and blog their reaction.

I won't be home at that time, but I wasn't sure if people think that's a good plan. Live blogging speeches can work exceedingly well when it's something on TV that everyone can see. It may get a lot of comments, but of course, there is no guarantee.

7. So, yesterday we told you this was something special

What did you think? Wasn't Cap. Powers good? He's a little raw, but that passion is there and his courage in standing up and speaking out was wonderful to see. (Bench strength for the Mass Dem Party. There simple are not enough good Dems from Mass, we need more bench strength. LOL and don't hit me. LOL!)

MH1 and I are having a running discussion on this. After the speech MH turned to me and said, "Is he always this good"? I shook my shoulders and said, "Ahm, well yeah." Seriously, he really is quite good, I mean there is a reason he's a Senator. Isn't that what Senators are supposed to do? Isn't that what Senators are supposed to sound like: smart, courageous, eloquent and statesmanlike? That's part of the job desciption, as far as I can tell. So, yeah, he is capable of always being this good. Why would anyone vote for a Senator who wasn't 'this good'? (I don't get it, I really don't. What, we can't notice talent at home and expect excellence? He got that Senate seat and defeated all challengers over the years for a reason after all.)

Tay is a be-yatch. MH has Santorium as a Sen. He is rarely called a statesman. George Allen is barely able to read, let alone be called anything complimentary at all. (Okay, he can probably tie his own shoes. There's a compliment, I think.) MH told me that, in effect, I am spoiled.

Okay, you win. I'm spoiled. I think I'd like to stay spoiled and always try to find people, 'this good.' I like it.

8. I just watched...

...the speech on C-Span and then the interview on This Week. My thoughts are still a little 'raw' to use your word (yesterday). :)
I LOVED the speech. These are the words the country needs to hear....and I think...the words John Kerry has needed to say FOR A VERY LONG TIME. It was good to see him (before he actually spoke) rewarded by applause for what he did in 1971. Has that ever happened before publically? I've never seen it. It was wonderful and long deserved.

During the speech, I found myself clapping and cheering {keep in mind that I got up at 6:30 a.m. to watch, and this is going on at 7:00 or so on a SUNDAY morning. :7 } I switched right over to ABC for the Stephanopolous interview immediately after...missed the very beginning...but what I saw was EXCELLENT. He stayed very 'on message' in defending the generals and handled the CIA arrest story well. I thought he seemed a little annoyed at the way George S. asked some of the questions toward the end of the interview. But he did VERY well and ended with a great SMILE !

My impulse when it was over was that I felt compelled to do something to show support for John Kerry and demonstrate my own patriotism for doing what JK said to do 'at home'..."My country, right or wrong...When right, keep it right...When wrong...MAKE IT RIGHT." This is where my activism (small as it is) is coming from. Sooooo.... I dug out all my decorative American Flags (that I usually display on patriotic holidays) and put them out in both my front yard and back yard! Maybe my neighbors will notice and ask why...and I'll tell them to watch C-Span at 2:00 p.m. ;)

What a wonderful day ! And I think this is the beginning of another big push in the next few days to meet the May 15th deadline for Iraq and get the troops home.:patriot:

This is actually a very positive sign and post considering the poster states, "I haven't been a big fan of Senator Kerry for a number of years...But this speech reminded me of the old Kerry, of the `70s and `80s - whom I do admire. More of this please!"

12. Great diary that came from non-Kerrycrats which made it extra sincere

as to how great his speech was (I'm not saying we're not sincere, but from the POV of others). Unfortunately, it's off the front page. You know, when I look at the most rec'd diaries on dKos, it's just unbelievable how half of them are uninspiring and not even that interesting, yet this great speech got no props from most of the Kossaks, whether it be the community or the main bloggers there. I mean, it's okay -- nobody is going to take my joy away of what a great speech that was, but we can't blame the Right for everything. There are a lot of people on the Left who are devoid of the characteristics that make America great.

As far as all of this anti-NAFTA, anti-globablization stuff from the '90s, I'd say life was pretty damned good back then. Had Democrats stayed in charge I truly think they would have made some changes to keep the society more equal. I'm a little annoyed with the Greenies, especially since Nader went to the same high school as me, and he has been nothing but trouble in that town, and nobody likes him (Winsted, CT). Don't get me wrong -- his consumer protection stuff was great, but his big political vision is highly unattractive to me, and he's kind of a jerk. These "pure" people are not trying to move the country forward; they're only there to whine while offering no solutions.
