Withdrawal from Iraq: despite the withdrawal of Al Jaafari does the May15th deadline still hold?

1. The interview was interesting .
Snuffy asked good questions, but didn't seem to be out for blood. Senator Kerry is getting real good and seems more at ease with these interviews now.

A new Bin Laden tape emerges.

What exquisite timing he has.

12. Is there any doubt
that bin Laden and the president of Iran are both on the White House payroll? (Or is my :tinfoilhat: just a little bit too tight?) If * is REALLY trying to find bin Laden, what he should do is just let Kerry hold a week-long speak-a-thon because apparently the soothing sound of JK's voice tends to lure him from his cave and into the recording studio.

4. Especially since Timmy already
asked the same questions.

I know this is old news, but I do wish Snuffy would have focused a bit on the substance of what Kerry said in that speech, and, once again, less on 2008 speculation.

I thought Kerry did great. And during the roundtable Kerry came up again - did you hear that part? About the CIA agent who blew the whistle on the European secret prisons. They were quoting JK's response as the gold standard (except for crankypants George Will.)

16. I know.
There's something oddly disconcerting at this point to hearing Kerry referred to respectfully by the talking heads. It shows me how used I am to witnessing their disrespect. And that is just plain sad.

33. I know, me too
They were all just referring to him as if they had always done so--he was just one of the gang!
Methinks they were more than a little dazzled by the close proximity. I can imagine he took the opportunity to chat with them all and create a little goodwill.

5. This was on at the same time as the speech
I missed parts of the Snuffy interview. What I saw was good.
The speech, though, was fabulous.
And I'm not sure Geo Allen can tie his shoes. Have you witnessed it, or are you just giving him the benefit of the doubt?

when they shot towards Snuffy over JK's shoulder? Snuff looked like a midget or hobbit or something compared to tall John. Note to crew: don't put them both in the same shot if you want to keep your jobs. ;)

18. That was AWESOME! Thanks for the link.
His point about training is spot on! In America, two months of basic training and you're an American soldier.

Train the Iraqis and stand down. Bush says more than 240,000 have been trained, then time to stand down.

Completely disagree with Ford. A retired general is retired and is still an American citizen.

Summary:

Truth, damn it! Truth, truth, truth!

Featuring Kerry playing with a "Bushisms" doll, the Puff the Magic Dragon singalong (complete with JK hearkening back to the 70s :smoke: ), and awesome grainy handheld camera footage of JK foraging for donuts in a supermarket.

Awesome!

And kind of had to end up scooping them in. That was just so mundane, but so precious at the same time. I :loveya: him.

32. At that time the Republicans actually
tried to make an issue of Kerry pretending to "puff" a pretend cigarette. (I guess they wanted to go back to Agnew saying Puff the Magic Dragon was about pot.) It really is pretty cute. The entire thing showed a very likable person.

I'm not surprised although obviously that would have led to the alcoholic druggie calling the pretty clean cut athlete (and former prosecutor) on drugs. (Why does this seems more likely now then then?) It really does look like a pretty happy nice event.

John Kerry on “This Week”
April 23rd, 2006 @ 11:33 am

John Kerry was on ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopolous this morning, discussing a wide scope of topics including his speech at Boston’s Faneuil Hall yesterday, Iraq, the new audiotape that has surfaced from Osama bin Laden, Donald Rumsfeld, his views on changing the primary schedule and more…

The following is the transcript of the show (note: transcript is first take, some is missing)

STEPHANOPOULOS: But can a new prime minister stop the violence in Iraq? And will a new staff shore up the president at home?

We’ll ask our headliner, Senator John Kerry, in a Sunday exclusive.

STEPHANOPOULOS: Good morning, everyone. We begin today with some breaking news, a new audiotape from Osama bin Laden. Al Jazeera is broadcasting the tape in which the Al Qaida leader says the war in Iraq and the cutoff of funds to the Palestinian government led by Hamas proves that there is a Zionist crusade against Islam. The tape has not yet been authenticated.

Here to discuss this and more is our headliner, Senator John Kerry. Welcome back to “This Week”

KERRY: Good morning. Glad to be here.

STEPHANOPOULOS: Osama bin Laden is back. What’s your reaction?

That primaries question is out to make Kerry as a racist cause he defended the Iowa and NH primaries.:grr: (I know he isn't though :))

Hope no one takes that the wrong way. Other than that, Snuffy could have left 2008 off.

40. There was a Dkos thread last night
where the OP wrote it in a very negative way - but it got few takers. (Other than Geisha) It couldn't even get many responses. Some thought the real problem was that it knocked out Dean.

The thread is effectively dead, but here's the link:

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/4/23/211653/259

I'm not sure what small state with a diverse population could be used - I scanned a list of states and population. Most of the low population states are Republican strongholds. Others make no sense -Vermont or Rhode Island (both less representative than NH), Hawaii (how many hours from DC by plane). A possible state is Delaware, which I think (but don't know is more diverse.)
