Seems to me JK wanted the speech to be about the war, not him,

and I think we all need to help keep peoples' focus on that in threads here at DU, rather than the usual 2002(IWR), 2004, or 2008 chatter whenever JK's name is mentioned. All of that is just a distraction from the real message, which is about all of us speaking out against the war.

2. It actually went beyond the war - to the heart of what our

values are. Quotes like this should be repeated:

"The most dangerous defeatists, the most dispiriting pessimists, are those who invoke September 11th to argue that our traditional values are a luxury we can no longer afford."

This is the same set of issues Feingold has raised as well, but Kerry's comments (DU snark aside) are far more approachable.
