Any other Maryknollers here
besides myself?

I love their missionary work and they really do espouse the social-worker's political agenda of the Church...

1. Tell us about your involvement! Are you an

Affiliate? Or. . .???

I looked around the Maryknoll site, saw that they are asking people to sign up to pray for an hour in the next two days, for World AIDS Day.

Another worthwhile project is sending holiday greetings to people in the Holy Land. I think you have to go to the Pax Christi site to do this but Maryknoll gave a link.

Also saw they carry a book about Fr. Roy Bourgeois and the Movement to Close the School of the Americas. I've seen a documentary about him and I think it said he was a Maryknoll priest. In any case, I saw something else at the site about Maryknoll affiliates protesting the SOA at Ft. Benning.

It's clear that Maryknoll is into the social justice teachings. Thanks for giving us the link, and please tell us more.

3. I just got started as one
First off, sorry for the late reply.

I started out donating monthly to their missionary work and became interested in doing more.

I like the four pillars that they have established in the Affliate Program:

Global Vision:
A sustained awareness of the interrelatedness of all that we do and that what happens in each country has an impact throughout the global village.

Spirituality:
A nourishment of one's call to a more intimate relationship with God, informed by the spirit and experience of mission.

Community:
A willingness to gather with other committed Affiliates for mutual support, reflection, prayer, study and communal activity.

Action:
An Affiliate is involved in some mission work, service, task, or activity, alone or with others, according to his/her time and interests.

If you have the time, check it out and think about joining.
