So how was mass today?
I was inspired to make this post because I saw a similar one in the lounge today. I'll repost my response...

Mass today was very uplifting and entertaining. My father and I happened to pull into the parking lot at the same time as my aunt and uncle. So we stood with them during the service because there were elevendy-billion people in the church. Then the priest came out and after we finished singing the hallelujah, he was like "Wait...wait! Lets do it again, that was too much fun!" I swear he was in Up with People before becoming a priest. Then he sang a few bars of "Fame" to begin his sermon (which was about living forever in the hear of Jesus and in Heaven). Then he made a joke about "granny" being up in Heaven having a conversation with St. Anthony asking how he always knew where her keys were which just cracked me up. But it was a good service, very quick (only 50 minutes) because they had to clear the church for the 12pm mass.

I also was astounded to read in the bulletin that my church collected over $37,000 last week alone, I can't even imagine what they are going to pull in this week!

1. It was WONDERFUL!
Edited on Sun Mar-27-05 04:39 PM by Cuban_Liberal
My parents, my brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews were all there, so many of us that we occupied the best part of 3 whole pews! It was overcast when the Mass started, but just as the monsignor spoke the words "He is risen", the sun popped out from behind the clouds. Everyone there, inclusing the monsignor, broke into huge smiles simultaneously.

:D

2. It was wonderful - great sermon
about how we're supposed to experience little pieces of Christ's passion and resurrection here on earth. When we face trouble, pain, and suffering - we experience a little bit of what He did during His death. When we fall in love, hear Mass, and receive the Eucharist we're experiencing a little bit of the resurrection. I really liked it; it made me think hard about the Eucharist and how much I miss receiving. It's high time I did something about getting absolution.

3. Go and be reconciled.
Both He and you will be glad you did.

4. It was the first time we went in over a year- and I'm glad we did.
I like the parish I attend, but my wife and I stopped going last year, partly out of laziness and partly out of all the hubub over the election year. I guess we were worried that we would be offended by something. Turns out it was all for naught. Though I don't always agree with the Church's stance on some matters (as well as some parishioners' fixation with certain wedge issues), it felt good to go back.

5. It was great!
There was a baptism and the baby was really cute. The sermon was on how we can not hold on to experiences of Christ and was good.
