Congratulations to all the Elect! Especially our own
Duckie and scarletowl (hmm, birds of a feather???) If there are other newly Elect here, I hope they'll check in and let us congratulate them, too.

The Rite of Election took place in Roman Catholic churches worldwide today, formally recognizing adult candidates and catechumens who have been studying Catholic teaching for a few months and plan to be received into the Church at the Easter Vigil.

It's a big step for adults to take, as converts like me know very well.

We all salute you and congratulate you!

1. Thank you! That was very kind!
I'm really excited. There is such beauty and love in this incarnation of the Catholic Church. It's so refreshing that the catholic church actually cares about the poor.

2. I remember how many people came up and

hugged me or otherwise congratulated and welcomed me after the Mass that included the Rite of Election. Lots of them were people I didn't know at all, people I'm not sure I'd ever seen before, since the Rite of Election wasn't held during the Mass I usually attended. Cradle Catholics often say they sort of envy us converts, especially the catechumens who actually get baptised at Easter.

Non-Catholics, OTOH, usually can't figure out why anyone would become Catholic unless they were marrying a Catholic! Oh, well, not everyone is meant to be Catholic. ;-)

3. We didn't stay. We went to our own little study after the homily...
So we didn't get that.

4. Thank you.
It was a lovely ceremony. All of the congregation reached out their hands to us and we were presented with Bibles and memory books. It was all very moving and joyous. Thank you again for your congratulations.
