I am sad, yes, but I do not worry for John Paul. Not a sparrow falls, but that God sees it, so he is safe. Blessed be the name of the Lord.

5. Rest in peace
And He will raise you up on eagle's wings,
Bear you on the breath of dawn,
Make you to shine like the sun,
And hold you in the palm of His Hand.

6. Holy Father, you have been strong and unwavering in your faith.
A strong example to us. May your soul rest in peace in the arms of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

8. Amen, amen; I say again, Amen.

I share your feelings, Padraig. I am sad that we will see John Paul no more in this life but happy for him as he appears to be experiencing what we all hope for: a happy death. That is a uniquely Catholic expression I think; at least I have not heard it from Protestants or in my Protestant upbringing, but when I first encountered it I knew instantly what it meant. It's a sentiment I have always felt: that death should, and can, be calm and peaceful, and, ideally without suffering undue pain and suffering beforehand, and in one's own home.

A happy death is a beautiful thing to see, and I am confident that we are seeing one in progress this first Saturday of the Easter season. Rejoice for John Paul!
