Vatican says Williamson must recant
The Vatican has stated that Bishop Williamson must fully recant his views on the Holocaust before being fully admitted as a Bishop into the church.

The article goes on to say that Benedict was unaware of Williamson's views on the Holocaust prior to lifting the excommunication. I'm sorry, but I find that a bit hard to believe. If that's the case, someone really screwed up at the Vatican by not telling the Pope everything about this Williamson character.

1. Well that's a step in the right direction.
It was notable that Williamson only apologised for the problems his statements had caused, and not
for the denial itself. Did he or the Vatican suppose that nobody would pick it up?

It's very hard to understand how a supposedly educated and intelligent person can stand up and refute
documented historical evidence, especially of such recent vintage. Only people blinded by bigotry
could hold such views, or have any sympathy for this clown.

2. Does he have to recant for regarding Vatican II as illegitimate?
Or is it okay for archconservatives to ignore papal teachings?
