I share your frustrations about the postcards, but what does this story have to do with it?

2. The postcard campaign has deemed the Obama administration the most proabortion administration ever.

The bishops are routinely questioning whether any Catholic politician who supports choice can receive Communion or is even Catholic.

The bishops have argued that, leaving religion aside, abortion violates natural law.

The bishops have argued that Catholics have a duty to apply Catholic moral theology to the political sector and have strongly insinuated that a vote for Obama may be substantial cooperation with intrinsic evil.

The bishops have interupted Masses across the country and hectored Catholics to fill out postcards to urge Congress to prevent Obama from signing FOCA.

Meanwhile, a leading Catholic University, undoubtedly with the knowledge if not consent of bishops, will award an honorary Doctor of Laws degree to that same person they have relentlessly characterized as the leading violator of natural law.

They're utter hypocrites.

This is the absurd consequence of an absurd twisting of moral theology when it comes to matters of sex and reproduction.

3. Because the church is historically disorganized

And different wings of it contradict each other all the time. Gay catholics recently held an international conference in Mexico City. Nobody was excommunicated, to my knowledge. Dignity, the coalition for gay Catholics, is still ongoing, albeit embattled. Different bishops and one Vatican official have publicly disagreed with the reprehensible actions of the Bishop in South America.

A lot of this is a game, I'm afraid. Were it otherwise, hy would Obama accept an honorary degree from a Catholic university?

All that aside, I'm afraid it's time for me to leave DU. This is no place for me.

DU does a poor job of moderating religious beliefs and political views. So does the Church. I'm not leaving either. Please reconsider.

BTW, if it were not all a game, why would Notre Dame offer the degree?
