Now this is beyond sad - Palm Sunday Mass was packed as usual,
and it was a very moving service. Afterward, I stopped at the grocery store, as usual. (Sorry to shop on a Sunday, but I drive 14 miles to church and the grocery store is just down the block so I figure saving energy to protect the planet takes priority.)

Anyhow, I enter the grocery store, and what do I see on prominent display? Palm crosses. Why would anyone buy palms at a grocery store?

1. Maybe cheaper than driving to mass? Oh, I don't know.

2. Here's the hymn I've been trying to remember ever since I saw the
palms on sale:

Come to the Water
by John Foley

1. O let all who thirst,
let them come to the water.
And let all who have nothing,
let them come to the Lord:
without money, without price.
Why should you pay the price,
except for the Lord?

2. And let all who seek,
let them come to the water.
And let all who have nothing,
let them come to the Lord:
without money, without strife.
Why should you spend your life,
except for the Lord?

3. And let all who toil,
let them come to the water.
And let all who are weary,
let them come to the Lord:
all who labor, without rest.
How can your soul find rest,
except for the Lord?

4. And let all the poor,
let them come to the water,
Bring the ones who are laden,
bring them all to the Lord:
bring the children without might.
Easy the load and light:
come to the Lord.

3. It's very familiar to me. Once a month, at least.
