"Be Patient"
That was the theme of today's sermon on this Trinity Sunday.

The Pastor of our Parish went on to tell us that change in the Church is coming.

Three areas:

The Church has to and must change its' disastrous policy of handling the sex abuse scandal.

The Church must allow Priests to marry, in order to prevent further cases of sexual abuse.

The Church must give women more say so in policy making.

He assured us, that these changes will be coming and for us to be patient.

After all, he concluded that we are the Church and not the hierarchy in Rome.

This Priest, BTW is one of our more traditional and "conservative" ones in the Parish.

1. Wow! I can't find the links, but the National Catholic Register
had a couple of articles discussing how the sisters all over the world are talking to each other without going through Rome. (BTW - did you know that something like 200 sisters were martyred in Congo in recent years? They refused to abandon the people in their care when soldiers came to their villages.) Someone wrote in response to the articles and called upon the sisters to build the structure to replace the current hierarchy. I mentioned this to my Dad, and he said:

"Can you say, Committees of Correspondence?"

2. Yes, wow!
A couple of the lady parishioners had mentioned that on the way out of church yesterday morning.

I had read somewhere that a number of the sisters had been martyred in Africa... but I did not know where or how many there were.

So yeah, something's afoot and it may well be the "Committees of Correspondence"...

3. Women have been patient for two thousand years.
How much longer?

Sigh. At least they now acknowledge that women have souls. I guess that's progress.
