what about a Christian Democratic Party of America?
I've read enough posts on here and other forums on DU and heard from enough people in the real world that liberal christians certianly don't fit in the reublican party and it's really coming to pass that we also don't really fit in the democratic party either.

what do you think the possibility is of forming a Christian Democratic Party of America, similiar to the one in Germany. It would embrace progressive thinking with an emphasis on social programs. People of all religious beleifs would be welcome and unlike the democratic party, it would be ok to be pro-life. I think a Christian Democratic Party would pull a lot of christians who are progressive in their thinking, but always vote republican because of our only pro-choice stance.

what do you think?

1. The current
Senate minority leader is pro-life. Dennis Kucinich was pro-life until recently. I don't think it's correct to say the Democratic Party does not allow for pro-life members.

I don't think the major problem facing America is that there's not enough christianity in our politics.

2. I Don't Think This Is A Good Idea
Another "alternative" to the Democratic party would only serve to fracture and weaken the Democratic party, wouldn't it?

>> People of all religious beleifs would be welcome <<

If that's what you had in mind, if you really envisioned something that was inclusive... then why would you want to call it the "Christian Democratic Party"? (Just asking.)

3. are you familiar with the politic positions in Germany?
The Christian Democrats are the major RW party. Progressive thinking isn't exactly their specialty.

4. Frankly I like to keep my Christianity out of my Government
Those are 2 tastes that don't go together. And I'm a prety devout Christian.

5. I think I know your feeling, but another left of center party will only
guarantee the election of rw candidates for years to come.
