These people are beyond reasoning with, and these threads are nothing put pure hate and flamebait. Not good for your mental or spiritual health.

I think the next step is to just go to ATA and ask Skinner or whoever to honestly discuss this blatant hostility shown toward Catholics. It goes against EVERY TENET of what this board is supposed to be about, as well as what we are supposed to be about as progressive Democrats. This shit is no better than the stuff I heard about Catholics while growing up in a fundie Protestant home, where my mom was all too happy to pass along her anti-Catholic bias that she heard as a girl growing up in the '20s.

And you know the answer to your question. Replace "Catholic" with "gay," "African-American," "women," or anybody else, and not only would the thread be locked, you'd be tombstoned before the sun went down.

As a matter of fact, whenever I open up one of those threads, that's what I ask MYSELF -- WHY am I doing this? And my explanation is the same as yours.

Out of curiosity, though, I looked, and the Nazi thread appeared to be one of the more regulated anti-Catholic threads I've ever seen...I think eight posts had been deleted, including the thread-starter.

Take a tip, though: Stay away from the one about the Pope having the flu. I snuck a peek and it had all the makings of going nasty.
