Schizoid
People with schizoid personality disorder avoid relationships and do not show much emotion. They genuinely prefer to be alone and do not secretly wish for popularity. They tend to seek jobs that require little social contact. Their social skills are often weak and they do not show a need for attention or acceptance. They are perceived as humorless and distant and often are termed "loners."

All of that is true except I do have a sense of humor.

They told me I had a schizoid personality type the last time I was in the hospital. I used to be extremely paranoid, also, but that has gone away with the use of meds.

3. Guys, I'd just like to suggest a caveat here.
There's no information on who formulated this test; no information on its validity. Also, there's no provision for differential diagnosis here. For example, if you answer yes to the suicidal ideation question, I believe they attribute that to borderline personality disorder. It is, of course, also a classic symptom of major depression. I would just suggest that everybody take the results with a grain of salt.

5. That's true
If you think you have a personality disorder you should see a psychologist. Don't go by some little test you found on the internet and don't go into the psychologists office saying you think you have ten different personality disorders because of that little test. Just tell the doctor that things aren't going well for you and you think you have a personality disorder.

In my case I really do have a schizoid personality type and I found that out through analysis at a hospital. I think a mental health professional's diagnosis is the best way to go. They don't always get things right the first time, but if you keep seeing them they will.

8. I came out low across the board...and I agree w/Fuzzy...
BTW: you can add to the questions:

Chances of you buying a book from this site: ZERO

Remember, it was all set up to get you get to the sales pitch...:)

Personally, I never trust any test that doesn't have "occasionally", "sometimes" or "rarely" in it.

Cut and dried yes/no answers mean nothing except for the time your filling out the questionnaire.

9. Amusing how the test is ignorant of asperger's, add, autism, et al...
Edited on Wed Dec-15-04 11:12 PM by HypnoToad
But these are my results and I am compelled to agree with some of what they say...

Paranoid: Low
Schizoid: Moderate
Schizotypal: Very High
Antisocial: Low
Borderline: Low
Histrionic: High
Narcissistic: Moderate
Avoidant: Very High
Dependent: High
Obsessive-Compulsive: Moderate

My counselor may have been right after all, though more than environmental factors cause these problems and lead to situations where those aforementioned conditions develop. Popping a pill for schizotypal won't fix my cognitive issues (though that's likely an ADD issue, of which I can't take drugs for because that aggrevated the anxiety or causes neurological dysfunction, depending on the drug...)

Heck, just for some fun, I listen to Abba, Madonna, Jefferson Airplane, and Public Enemy. Maybe I've got Schizotonal disoder. :D
