Anyone do Doxepin/sinequan?
I 've been given it to substitute for the amytryptilin that is causing bladder issues, but I see a real weight gain side effect and perhaps the same bladder issues also. Any good reports or negative reports would be much appreciated

1. Doxepin is an Tricyclic Antidepressant

And some people have major problems with it, weight gain not being the least of it. If you're majorly depressed, or bipolar, it can help, but it's often the medication of last resort. It's easier to tolerate in minor doses, so if you don't have major issues, it's not quite as bad. Besides weight gain, Tachycardia (fast heartrate) can be an issue.

You should talk with your doc - I don't know what specific issue you present with, but anti-depressants are supposed to help you. If they create side effects that are unacceptably undesireable, or make things worse, then there's no point. See if you can move to something else. Hopefully your doc scheduled a followup. I'd have no problem going in and saying "this is doing this and this, and I really don't like it - what other choices do we have?".

Good luck

2. well I haven't used the doxepin yet
it sits here on my computer and is a month old, I gained 20 pounds when i quit smoking and don't even want to think about any more pounds. But I'm not sure this stuff is going to fix my problem, sometimes doctors seem to want to give ya another pill and shove you out the door. I'm increasingly frustrated and disillusioned by western medicine.
I've recently started taking ginseng and other supplements as I really think the whole drug industry BIG PHARMA is all about profits and little about your health and well being.

3. supplement business is no better
big, big business, no oversight. when the whole ephedra thing happened, their people tossed the b.s. just like big pill.
i will say, tho, that psych meds rely on a lot of guess work, try this, try that, see what works for ya. a whole, whole lot of trial and error.

4. I took Sinequan a long time ago.
I remember lots of weight gain and lots of sleepiness during the day. Whenever I took a dose it would make me anxious for about an hour, then so sleepy that I couldn't stand up. (Obviously, I took it at night).
