A "letting stuff go" kind of deal
So, Doug and I took on booking him in this theater nearby where he would do a concert tonight. It was a LOT of work, involving talking to a lot of people like press and whatEVEr for weeks.

I was really scared that the stress would tip him over. On the other hand, this is what he does, what he loves, so I want to help that happen. Man, that's a fine line. :)

So, we did the deed -- all the work you need to do unsupported to make this event possible. He's on right now. Won't get off stage for about another 30 minutes.

I'm not there. I've also been handling our old dog who wakes me up every morning at about 3 am, and have been too tired for a couple of weeks now. There was no question of me going in tonight, I can hardly see straight and need to rest.

But, all in all, I think that's fine. lol. We did all of this together mostly but tonight, Doug is managing a whole lot on his own with one helper who isn't me.

It's pretty great not to be needed, to see someone go out and fly all on their own.

I love that. Here's to what we can do, together and on our own.

To Doug, the very bravest person I know.

lol

1. I have had very similar feelings and experiences
while letting go of my children, so I can really relate here, Beth.

With my life's problems I was always wary that my children might have inherited my mental problems, and sometimes certain things would crop up and I would get scared for them. But I did what I thought I had to do to first support them as best I could, and then, even sometimes with my heart pounding, I had to stand back, let go, and try to have some faith.

Here is to Doug, and here is to YOU!

2. you are exceptional
people- You and your Doug-

I admire, and ( I confess) envy your tenacity, hope, endurance, and tendency to seek out the positive in all things-

Hope the show went beautifully, and that the days ahead bring laughter-and peace-

blu

(I can't tell you what encouragement your posts give me-)

7. Dear blu
If we keep checking the situation out together, instead of making each other the situation, everything gets easier, a little bit, doesn't it?

I fail so many times a day, I refuse to keep track. :silly:

But, the quiet, invisible sucesses deserve their turn, don't they?

:)

8. When the editor is done, I'll mail a copy to anyone in this forum
that could use a laugh.

Laughter -- what Big Pharma can't deliver.

9. Sharing with this community helps me more than I can ever say.
You all help me even when I don't post, even when I just remember the forum is here. I had a bad time after we lost Andy and I didn't post here much. But, I knew you all were here and that helped me so much.

I hope to be a more regular reader now that things *seem* to be calming down. Let's see how it goes.

Thank you, knowbody0. And back atcha. :)

5. Hey! It went very well! lol!
There were funny glitches here and there. But the camera guy, a dear supportive friend, sent a tape home from the camera he was operating and I got to see it this morning.

Doug did a 90 minute show, all by himself except for the last 30 minutes when he had another friend with him who is a great guitar player/singer/humorist & they did song parodies. "Na na na na, na na na na, Mel Gibson, goodbye."

The thing is, I can't imagine a more stressful (and so, maybe triggering) thing to do than a one man show. And, he got it done. This weekend, the deal is to rest and rest some more and to be sure we're looking after our balance.

Thank you so much for your kindness. It's such a relief to talk to people who really know the stakes here.
