I bought a book to help me with my procrastination problem, but
I just can't seem to get around to reading it!

No joke - I keep planning to do things but it's a day to day struggle. I think it does help to try to see the lighter side of things, though.

1. Heh. (oops sorry to laugh)
I have the same problem- much worse after my car accident in early oct. now i'm first starting to get my neck and back to have feeling and i can do things... so i don't want to do what i have to do. (except post and mod on DU- that's pleasurable and a good outlet for me!)

Make you a deal- if you read the first chapter, I'll do something that I've been putting off also- we can have a "procrastination support group" here in the forum!

2. It's what I hate most about depression.

When I come out of an episode, everything around the house is so backed up and disorganized that it feels like I 'll never get it back in order and I just can't get started.

I'll let you know when I get the first chapter read.

3. I feel like you just read my mind.
Except that you typed it, so, you're one step up on me. I'm coming out of an episode right now, and the thought of catching up with everything is a little overwhelming...So, I can just drag my feet.... and... yeah- self-fufilling prophesy tends to occur! But, maybe this will be the time that I start and complete all of the tasks before something else overtakes me.

4. I made a very ambitious plan but it's gong slow.
At least I've made it out to exercise three times a week all of this month! One step at a time, I guess.

5. Update: I started reading the book and found out that I have read it before!
Not only that, but I highlighted passages and made notes! I gues it just goes to show that we're in a constant struggle.

8. LOL Oh my that sounds so familiar!
I did that once with a book on organizing because, like any true procrastinator, my life and stuff is a bit of a mess. I saw it, bought it and came home only to find I already had it and had read it and made little cards to help me that never got past the part of writing them up.

Well, we are going to be moving in April. I guess I will be having to clean out, organize and not procrastinate pretty soon or I will be in deep trouble!

9. Update: I managed to plant all the shrubs I ordered last Spring!
It's the first of December, the garden looks like a rice paddy, but I got them in ahead of the big storm headed this way. Naturally, I couldn't get around to planting them when the weather was nice in August, September and October!

I also finished all the Christmas shopping except for one item. If the starting motor on the car hadn't quit, I'd have done that today.

Tomorrow starts the major mucking out of the house.

Being a depressive is like having an on-again off-again disease like MS. You have to learn to take advantage of your good days and you have to decide what's most important.
