I just discovered this group. May I join in? Perhaps some of you
will be able to chime in on my situation.

I consider myself a fairly reasonable person yet lately, I have been angry all the time. I'm angry about the war, about politics, about the fact that I can not find a job after being laid off months ago. I am at retirement age and have no will or energy to go back to school to learn a more marketable skill.

As a family, we have always worked and paid our bills and yet now, can hardly make ends meet. I thought by this time in life, things would be a little easier but I guess that is not the case.
Most of the friends I used to have seem to have moved to warmer or "cheaper" climates. I love my house and don't want to be forced to leave.

Maybe its just the long winter, I don't know. Anyone else trying to cope with this constant feeling of being "ticked off"?

1. Well, it sounds like you have a lot to be angry about. Some of the
things you mentioned I can identify with.

Being angry all the time is also a symptom of depression. I'm not saying you're clinically depressed but it's a possibility.

2. like all of us, you are in a bad situation.
even those of us without problems of our own are frustrated and ticked off. with all that to cope with, i can see you need to do something. find a positive way to channel this stress, or it will eat you up. even if it is just something small, like finding a way to talk back to that little nagging voice.
especially take care of your sleep. it can easily deteriorate in times of stress, and things can snowball. http://www.stanford.edu/~dement/howto.html
take care.
ps, this little forum is the best on du, imho.

3. Yes I can relate to that.
I could waste days at a time being angry about this or that. Day's hell, years. Life was just shades of gray, bland and blah at the best. Then someone talked about depression being anger turned inwards. That made sense to me and made me want to get help.
