not in private practice, but exploring possibilities of some different alternative means of income besides working for someone else, contracts, consultation, seeing patients in nursing homes...
I'm always interested in discussing things. I've not ever been in a true private practice, I was in a group practice for chronic pain with pain management physicians a few years ago. I depended on them mainly for referrals and that just didn't work out because they felt like if they referred someone to me they were telling the person they were "crazy" (their words not mine) I had training in biofeedback and hypnosis and cognitive behavioral therapy for coping with chronic pain. The clinic was also built strongly around the use of narcotics and procedures vs. looking at the psychological or emotional factors in the chronic pain process.
edit to add: LCSW is my credential
