Depression: It's not just for wimps
Effexor XR 150 mg qd. That's my current dosage. Started at 75 mg
and had to increase. Doc says it may have to increase to 300.

Full disclosure: Doc is a GP, not a shrink. I can't afford a shrink
for both financial and career reasons. Gawd, if my employer found out!
Fact is, I'm damn good at my job, it's my only source of self-satisfaction.

I'm not exactly the stereotypical he-man trucker, but I carry my weight
(so to speak). I don't have problems with Mom or any of that Freudian shit.
The only sexual "problems" are those typical of a 54 YO male.

Fact is, there's a biochemical imbalance in my brain. Effexor, like insulin
to a diabetic, calms the symptoms but will never cure the ailment.

1. I'm a trucker, too
And I have a nasty disease called schizo-affective disorder. Among the four medications that I take are an anti-psychotic and a mood stabilizer.

I've been honest at my D.O.T. physicals. The fact that I have this illness is on my long form physical. I haven't heard a peep about it from my employer. I just had to get a note from my psychiatrist saying he thought I could perform my job safely for the doctor conducting the physical and my physical is only good for one year instead of two. I think that's fair.

I wouldn't exactly advertise the fact that you have a mental illness, but if your employer does find out and fires you then I want to be your lawyer when you sue the fuck out of them. I don't need no damn degree to win that case. :)
