Mean people suck

what is it with certain people that make them so mean and oozing with resentment at me? Spewing such bitter untrue accusations and resentful crap and utter bullshit? Why do they so much want to de-legitimatize anything I post about my own experiences? Why do they feel so compelled to say lies about me or claim things about my own experiences they don't know or try to minimize it or even try to derail the whole thread over the inflammatory shit they say?

Where in the hell does this kind of seething resentment and viciousness in certain posters here come from? Why are they so compelled to aim their vitriol at me for? Most of the time I do not recognize the poster's name. But they sound the same way, use the same troll tactics and same snottiness and repeat similar enough pointless rude objections to every post.

As far as I can tell I am not attacking anyone in my posts about poverty or my own life, or any other topics.I'm just sharing,and tying my life to a topic at hand,it gets read by some,some relate,some offer their contributions to the thread or some give it a rec.. But every time I write something there is always at least one resentful bitter crass snarker there trying to derail the thread or dehumanize me,demanding I prove something as if what I am saying about myself is not true. It is strange it's always the same kinds of attacks for some reason.I dunno why.It's weird.

Any ideas y'all?

I'm not understanding where you've posted to see an example of what you're talking about, but if it was GD or (here's my downfall) Sept 11 group, then you are wide open for the occasional assholes, and they come in waves sometimes, I swear.

Most people are into themselves, perhaps not connected as well as they should be, or have something to prove whenever they dis other posters. I do it back to the people who have already bugged me on Sept 11 group.

I do more reading than posting, also, to avoid the OP and then assholery comments pulling apart the OP.

2. I have found it helps to retreat into the realm of PMs for a while.

I post minimally so haven't experienced much personally, but the meanness I see heaped upon others at DU is disturbing. Sometimes I just have to take a break.

3. Photography group...now there's some zen.

I am fairly certain I have generalized anxiety disorder, coupled with massive, unpredictable panic attacks (which is why I'm posting at midnight mountain time...i should have been in bed three hours ago-10 CST). When I hang out too long in GD or GDP, the hateful folks get to me.
There are a lot of really unpleasant people on here. Just because they're Democrats doesn't make them nice people. I had a throwdown with one of them the other day about undocumented workers-my post got deleted. Their's, well, it didn't. It was hateful and mean, but because I called the person out, I got the heave-ho. I don't like mean-spirited, bigoted jerks, regardless of their political persuasion...and there are a lot who hide behind the letter "D".

Hope life finds you well otherwise. I hope a little sleeping pill kicks in and gives me a little solace. Mexico is a noisy place, and for an insomniac, not always pleasant/relaxing.

5. I think humans have a tendency to attack when confronted with something that makes the insecure.

You post a lot of stuff that makes people uncomfortable because it's so open and honest. Personally, I think that's a great thing, but I think some of the issues you raise aren't issues some people want to acknowledge or deal with.

The poverty issue on DU has always been a hairy one. I've come to think that one of the reasons for the backlash at times is fear. And the closer that fear comes to being a reality the more they don't want to think that it could be them next. So they attack people delivering that message (despite it being true), even though the messenger isn't really the enemy. The real enemy is fear, but the person bringing that fear to their attention becomes the target.

And then there are some people who are just assholes.
