Hi there!
I find myself in the midst of a crash course in African history; specifically, the African Diaspora...the slave trade which impacted this region and led to population throughout the rest of the world (I realize the Caribbean, North and South American...maybe other lesser-known areas, too?); and how the suppression of these peoples (their religious rituals, customs, etc.) have led to what we see as modern-day racism.
Combine this with the fairly recent history of the African continent since colonization and ruthless leaders, and the current state of the various nations within this continent now gaining global awareness.
I frequently stumble upon JSTOR articles that I would love to access, yet have no means of doing so. I don't belong to a library that is part of this system, nor do I subscribe to any publications which are part of the system.
Does anyone here know of a way to access these records, access JSTOR, or access a similar treasure-trove of scholarly publications about this subject matter?
Oh yeah, another huge subject which goes along with this is the evolution of the religion (Vodun, Voudou) from West Africa, to Haiti and other islands, to North America.
Thanks in advance!!!!
