Perhaps an overview discussing its influence on cultural, social, economic and political life? Ha ha, I know that's a very broad topic -- but any thoughts on a good book?
Thank you for any input.

1. "Rabbi Jesus", "James, the Brother of Jesus" |
|
and "Constantine's Sword".
Those are not so much overviews, but a very well written mix covering the beginning to the middle of the story.

I know the church does not have a very good reputation, but I find its history fascinating...
