D.C. area music lovers - anyone want to see the NSO?
I have purchased a pair of tickets to the red series for the National Symphony next year. The opening concert features Iztak Perlman. I would like to have someone attend some of the concerts with me and share the considerable expensive I've covered for one of tickets. I had a "friend" who crapped out on me at the last minute, but the series was so wonderful, I didn't want to back out. They will be prime orchestra seats but I'm not sure of the exact location. Later tonight I'll post more information about the series and the dates, and if anyone is interested, please PM me.

Hopefully there will be interest, as I'm sure many people don't have relatives, spouses or friends interested in this music, but would hate to go alone.

1. Update on the concert schedule
All concerts are Prime Orchestra at the Kennedy Center at 8:00 pm. Conducted by Slatkin unless noted. Season starts in Sep 2005 and goes to 2006. Tickets are about $63.00 each (some might be more, some might be less)

Wed Sept 21 - Itzhak Perlman, violin

Sat Oct 8 - Nikodaj Znaider, violin

Sat Feb 11 - Christoph von Dohnanyi, conductor, Alban Gerhardt, cello

Sat Mar 25 - Emmanual Ax, piano

Sat Apr 15 - Helmuth Rilling, conductor (Bach "St Mattew Passion")

Sat Jun 8 - Kurt Mabur, conductor (All Beethoven program)

I don't have detailed program notes as of yet, but will provide when I receive them if anyone is interested.

2. An update
I cancelled my tickets. I just don't want to be held responsible for that much money. Too bad, really.

3. That's too bad. Are you going to look at another level?
I hope you don't miss out on the season. Sounded like a good program.

4. Well unforunately, no
I had some unexpected financial difficulties (a niece getting married needs money and my home computer is toast). Also I may lose my job soon. It just wasn't good timing for this, maybe next year.

5. You might want to consider...
season tickets to the National Philharmonic at Strathmore. I've been playing with them for much of this season, and things are sounding really good. It's a part-time orchestra, unlike NSO or BSO, so ticket prices are not as high. However, we've been performing together about every 3 weeks, and the core group does not change that much from concert to concert; so the quality of performance is much higher than with many of the other regional orchestras in the area.

Here's a link: http://www.nationalphilharmonic.org/

Strathmore's a gorgeous hall, and it's right on the Red Line.
