I've got his Tenebrae responses playing now - it's difficult to imagine that this is a contemporary of Monteverdi, some of the harmonic structures were not seen again until the 20th century.

Along with Monteverdi, Dufay, Penderecki and a few other oddballs. Gesualdo has always been a fave. Especially the madrigal "Moro Lasso." Very strange.
