Mendelssohn's Scottish Symphony |
|
I'm quite a big fan of Mendelssohn's two Scottish pieces: the A-minor symphony and the Hebrides. What I like most of all is the way he mixes the strings and winds: brilliant flute and oboe lines over a bed of fast violin parts or the texture of low strings and low winds in unison.
What are some other pieces, Mendelssohn or not, that have a similar use of timbre play?
