Rowling's series, going to weekend conventions where quidditch matches are acted out, and writing novel-length fan fiction based on the first five books.
How many grown-ups are spellbound by Rowling's magical world? At last count, the yahoo.com meet-up group Harry Potter for Grown-ups had 17,589 members and an average of 60 posts a day. In comparison, one of the most active "Lord of the Rings" groups on yahoo.com has 1,246 participants.
