Knife of Dreams (Wheel of Time, Book 11)
Edited on Fri Aug-19-05 11:01 PM by GreenJ
It's coming out October 11th

http://www.tor.com/jordan/knifeofdreams.html

Anyone else waiting for this book? I've been reading this series for 12 years now and while it does drag sometimes I still love the books.

Anyone have any theories as to what is going to be in this book?

Two things I think will be included in this one are:

Mat finally rescues Moiraine from the other side of the stone archway by getting into the Tower of Genjei. Everything points to the fact that she's not dead and Mat constantly playing Snakes and Foxes with Olver which teaches him how to deal with the strange people on the other side of the doorway and the Tower of Genjei leads to where they live.

I think that Shara will play a role in this book, I'm not sure what but I think there will be some interaction with the mysterious land.

1. Moraine is definitely not dead. I have never thought she was.
However, I do hope this book moves at something faster than glacial speed.

Book 10 make me nuts..how could there be so many pages and so little actually happened?

I will read this book, but probably not right away.

all of Rand's offspring will be born?

Nynave does something besides tug on her braid and sniff.

another dark one will reincarnate AGAIN, making it even more impossible to keep track of who is destroyed and who isn't.

And...what about Perrin and his wife

4. I'm getting kind of tired of this series
It started out SO good...but the last few books don't seem nearly as well written. Not to mention the fact that it takes the author a rediculously long time to come out with each book. If it's the last book in the series, I might pick it up as a paperback...otherwise, I think I'll skip it.

7. Yeah, me too...
Fortuately I discovered the "Song of Fire and Ice" series by George RR Martin. It's everything you've ever wanted in the Wheel of Time series but never got (except for the fact that it's not finished yet either) The plot moves at a brisk rate, i.e. things actually happen in the books, the characterization is fantastic, and the author is not afraid to kill off his wonderfuly written characters as the story demands. I'll certainly pick up the new WoT book, I'm too bloody minded to stop now, but the book I'm really waiting for is "A Feast for Crows"

2. damn. now I have to re-read 10 books to remember what's going on
kind of a pain, but oh well. After buying 10 books, I'm committed. I want to see how this will all pan out.

New Martin book comes out this fall, too, so busy season for reading!

3. Read a good recap of the series here:
http://www.dragonmount.com/News/index.php?subaction=showcomments&id=1118960222&archive=&start_from=&ucat=22&

(pdf file)

I'm gonna read the recap myself soon. I can barely remember ANYTHING from the last book, which isn't a good sign.

So how selfish was it of me that when all this talk of the terror drills going live and nuking Charleston, SC, my thoughts were "Not until Wheel of Time is done, dammit!"

5. Ive loved these books too
And have no problem re-reading book series.
But even though I have bought each book to have ready to read, Ive given up reading them until they are all written and ready to go! then I will have a serious good time of reading the whole series at once.
I only wish harry potter books were all written. Just finished the Half Blood Prince tonight.

6. It's about time.
Now I have to spend some time in the recap cave to get caught up.

I can hardly remember anything that happened in book 10. There was something about Egwene getting captured at the end I think.

11. I thought it was very good. A huge improvement over the last couple
of books. The last couple had really gone downhill but he really got back to form with this book. I had a number of people tell me that the next book will be the last.

13. well, I am reading it and he still needs an editor
the writing is still sluggish, but more seems to be happening in this book than the last one.

I have forgotten a LOT of stuff though.

14. I didn’t finish reading book ten.
I can overlook a lot of crap in books that are a series but not when the author repeats over and over again the same information. The books are long enough without this kind of filler. I also dislike how he segregates women and men. And don’t get me started on how realistic it is for a women preferring to be one of several wives who all love and support each other like some twisted sisters. Now that is what I call fantasy. Still I can overlook it as long as he keep up the brilliant work he did in the first three books. Sadly book ten was just too disappointing.
