In HP, do wizards need wands

Aren't the students working on wandless charms? I vaguely recall some discussion of it: that students weren't able to not talk at all.

2. They were WORDLESS charms...

But yes, there are wandless charms...They were talking about how the prisoners in Azkaban could eventually break out even without a wand.
I believe Dumbledor did stuff without a wand a few times...

That seems like it's straight chemistry. :shrug:

Also, when someone changes into animagus they do it without wands.

were able to perform magic without wands.

Yes, that's true, good point.

I also thought broom-riding is a non-wand activity. Although perhaps brooms are mad to fly because of wand action at the factory.
