I *definitely* found an error in Goblet of Fire (American Edition)
In the opening chapter, when Voldemort and Wormtail are talking, they refer to "one more murder" that will clear the way to Harry.

I was doing a reread preperatory to the film, and I started thinking about it, and it didn't make any sense.

Sure enough, in the UK version, the word is "curse," not "murder."

:wtf:

1. Yeah, that leaves me nonplussed. Have you heard about the differences
between the UK version and American version in HBP about what Dumbledore says to Draco at an important moment?

I must say that it is very interesting and pertinent to the previous hypothesizing (sp!?)that took place here about you know what.

:-)

6. Ok. spoiler safe
highlight the text to read 'em.

British Version:

'Come over to the right side, Draco, and we can hide you more completely than you can possibly imagine. What is more, I can send members of the Order to your mother tonight to hide her likewise. Your father is safe at the moment in Azkaban...when the time comes, we can hide him too...'

American:
"He cannot kill you if you are already dead. Come over to the right side, Draco, and we can hide you more completely than you can possibly imagine. What is more, I can send members of the Order to your mother tonight to hide her likewise. Nobody would be surprised that you had died in your attempt to kill me -- forgive me, but Lord Voldemort probably expects it. Nor would the Death Eaters be surprised that we had captured and killed your mother -- it is what they would do themselves, after all. Your father is safe at the moment in Azkaban...when the time comes, we can hide him too..."

10. Wow, that IS quite the difference!
Thanks for posting. The American version certainly gives more credence to the DD isn't dead theories. Hmmm...
