I finally bought Feast for Crows

Unless Cercei or someone major dies, it was not worth the $28 that I paid

Read them in order or you will be totally lost.

most likely there will be 7 books in all. There is magic and sorcery in these books, but it is subtle. The character development is awesome. I have read the first 3 twice and I almost never do that.

Book 4 became so huge and complicated that he divided it in half; Dance W/Dragons is supposed to be out in about a year.

Highly recommend it. It is not boring. Book 4 takes a while to get where it is going but it is worth it

yeah - it does kinda drag compared to the other books

from what I understand it was a publisher's decision to "cut the book" in half - Feast of Crows and the next book out (Dance with dragon?) were suppose to be one volume

8. It seems to drag, but when you take the context of the events

into consideration, then it makes sense. The events in this book takes place in the lull after the first round of major warfare, and the way I read it, it's setting up the main plot for MAJOR shake ups. I mean, you know the excrement will impact the air conditioning in a major way - Ironborn making a run for Daenerys? Internicine warfare between church and state? not to mention a major incursion of Others (you know it's coming...).

I just finished it, btw. I enjoyed it, once I realized that the book focuses on the non-major characters, which I thought was actually pretty clever. It's nice to see the evolution of Jaime Lannister, for example. And the Arya Stark sections in Braavos were really interesting.
