Harry Potter: Book 6 Predictions!
Here are mine:

• A Weasley twin dies.

• Harry is kidnapped by Voldemort and must be rescued by the Order.

• Ron and Hermione begin officially dating.

• Professor Snape is forced to make some sort of truce with Harry so they can work together (the final battle WILL come down to the two of them.)

Yours????

1. Harry and Ginny get closer (based on common experiences w Voldemort)
Edited on Sun Nov-28-04 07:54 PM by robbedvoter
Something happens in the Hogwats cemetery - possible some explanation of Sirius's state (not quite communication)
We find out more of the Dept of mysteries stuff - the curtain, the room with that special force Harry has
We find more about the old Hogwart days (Lupin, Lilly, James, Snapes)
Percy becomes somehow important to advancing the action
Grawp is participating in events somehow
Mme Olympe returns
More Petunia revelations
The house elves help the Order in some way - even Kreecher (for Hermione's sake)

2. I think all of these are likely.
The room with the special force that Harry has, though, to me can ONLY be Love. When Harry thought of Sirius as HWMNBN possessed him, the pain of losing him -- born of his love for his godfather -- made HWMNBN leave his body. HWMNBN couldn't stand to feel something he despises as weakness.

5. Agree. The twins are my favorite characters. Take Percy, please!
As for Ron & Hermione - they are overdue already. Rowlings souldn't believe in her interviews that there were readers that didn't catch on the heavy foreshadowing of this. (She didn't of course named them, just said something "I think it's quite clear..."

4. Ron's patronus is supposed to play an important role.
My guess is that his will be a Lion. There is some red head connection with Dumbledore.

Dumbledore dies and harry figures out how to use the magic mirror!

Harry and Ginny definitely but after friction first or his special fondness for Luna Lovegood.

Neville plays a part in the prophecy that no one foresaw.

Percy or Charlie Weasley dies. Not one of the twins - matched set.

Hermione and Ron: Book 7.

Aunt Petunia understands magic and was related to more than one relative with a magical background.

Uh, I am going to happily exhaust myself here...

15. I agree with everything. . .
except the Harry/Ginny thing. There seemed to be some indication
at the end of book five that she (Ginny) was over Harry and had
sought comfort in the arms of Dean Thomas (yup--JKR likes interracial things; for example, Fred Weasley and Angelina Johnson seem to be a canon pairing as well).

The end of OoTP seemed to reveal a sort of Luna/Harry thing, which
feels right to me. . . but I actually am a believer in the theory
of DEAD!Harry, so I don't think Harry will live to pair off with anyone in the end.

18. No, Ginny had given up which is
utterly different than getting over. Harry has to get jealous first - note the issues Ron had with Lockhart, Krum and anytime anyone hurts Hermione. Ginny wanted to go to the ball and Harry didn't even consider her in his myopic quest for Cho. JKR will be savvy and wait till Book 7 to resolve most of the relationships.

Luna provides insight for Harry and a person who is empathetic. Ginny will prove to be powerful in her own right which will be a match. Luna will have to find her own magical match...

Class disctintions and life's choices/free will rather than ethnicity is more JKR's message.

6. this will probably be the return of the king of the HP series
ron and hermione finally start going out, harry and ginny maybe, neville's parents regain thier minds, petunia finally accepts the wizarding blood in her, possibly useing magic herself, dumbledoor dies, leaving harry to face voldemort alone, cho and ginny fight over harry, prolly leaving him dateless and resenting the both of them, lotsa teen angst, neville useing the cruciatus curse on Malfoy Sr. Malfoy Jr. Expelled

7. All I know
Edited on Tue Nov-30-04 05:22 PM by Chovexani
Is that someone had better pull Sirius out of a hat. It could just be wishful thinking but I suspect that's what's going to happen...the book was rather coy about what actually happened to him. And remember the first rule of fantasy:

If you don't a see a body, they're not really dead.

I adored Sirius, he was by far my favorite character in the series, I just want him to come back.

So, I thing maybe fan zines may help you there...But we'll find more about him, death in general because of him.

11. Don't forget Bill (the oldest of Ron's brothers)
Edited on Thu Dec-02-04 08:33 PM by Lisa
I've got a feeling that one of the kids will either die, or (even worse) be lured onto Voldemort's side. Mrs. Weasley's premonition will in some way come true.

My suspicion is that Book 6 will be even darker (and have a grimmer ending) than the previous ones -- in order to set up for the final volume.

I think Harry is heading towards a career in teaching -- maybe he will eventually replace Dumbledore, in charge of Hogwarts?

.... definitely defense of the dark arts, maybe he will end up heading Hogwarts but my bet is McGonagal will take over if anything happens to Dumbledore.

14. Gred and Forge! Yikes!
I hope that your prediction about the twins doesn't come true. Sheesh!

I think that Harry being captured is pretty certain and Ron/Hermione
is canon by now. Snape's truce with Harry. . .could happen, but
only after something drastic occurs.

19. I don't want a Weasley to die, unless it's Percy.
I think Percy could be lured to the dark side, he's already part
of the way there.

Harry and Luna briefly, but I don't think that will be the great
romance. Neither Ginny nor Hermione feels quite right, so perhaps
there will be somebody new introduced at the end of HBP.

I know someone dies, and I think it has to be Dumbledore. Because
we know that Harry has to fight Voldemort in the end, and according
to all rites of passage, he will have to pass through danger on
his own in order to become strong enough. As Dumbledore is presently
the only wizard strong enough to take on Voldemort, he has to die
so that Harry will have to become strong enough to rely only on
himself.

how about Slytherin House leaving Hogwarts since most of the kids there come from families who were followers of Voldemort

24. There is a chapter in the HBP called Draco's Detour...
It is fairly early in the book too and that's directly from the JKR site when the door was last opened. Actually, I am wondering if Ron's love of money leads him astray rather than Malfoy... ughhhh, the wait... ;)

25. Hmm.. interesting angle..
The way Hogwarts is so bound in history, I think that if any of the houses left or were desbanded, Hogwarts would be done...but I think Dumbledore is far too fair to throw anybody out.. wasn't there a big quote by him along the lines of "it's our choices that determine who we are"? Although like the other poster, I don't see how Malfoy could stay with his family's alignment coming into the open. Book 6 should be quite the advendture, indeed!

26. Well, not all Slytherins are evil so the entire house is not out
and not all death eaters (from Hogwarts) were in Slytherin, either. But how she's going to keep Draco in the story in this next book with his father apparently on the run, is a mystery to me.

Heh, I swore after Stephen King's Gunslinger books that I would never again read a series until ALL the books were published. I hate waiting for next installments!

27. Yeah. I don't see how he can stay either...
but, I mean.. he has to.. the "Hero" has to have his "Foil". Maybe, since only a few people (almost all of them kids) actually saw Lucius, he's able to hornswoggle the Ministry for another book. After all, Harry saw Lucius as a death eater at the end of book 4, too, but the misinformation from the Ministry made Harry out to be a fool. On an unrelated note, am I the only one who wants to see McGonnagel kick some serious ass in this next book?

32. Neville takes out Dracos Malfoy or father (in book 7)
Neville's parents were attacked by one or more of voldemort's followers and hit with the crutasious (sp?) curse. it's never been stated which follower did it

my guess it that it was Malfoy's father and we'll learn this is book 6 -- and although Dracos Malfoy is depicted as harry foe at the school -- Neville is also one of his targets (typical bully style setup.)

While Harry battles Voldemort -- neville takes on the malfoy family
