Hello Everyone! Any Kate Elliot fans out there?
Hi everyone,
My name is Leslie Ann and I joined the DU Fantasy Literature discussion group because:
#1-I love all things fantasy/sci-fi
#2-I am a social progressive
#3-I want to chat with people of like mind
#4-I'm looking to connect with readers with whom I can share my own work.

I just finished reading the final installment of Kate Elliot's massive 'Crown Of Stars' series. Kate is one of my all-time favorite authors, and I study her work as a master class for my own fiction writing. The way she uses words is truly breathtaking sometimes. I often found myself stopping to re-read a sentence because it was so skillfully written. I'd love to talk to anyone out there who also loves Kate's work as I do.

I hope some of you will want to check out my soon-to-be published novel(no it's not self-published), titled 'Griffin's Daughter'.It is the first installment in a trilogy, and can best be described as a romantic fantasy. In it, I deal with modern-day issues of racism and imperialism in a typical medieval fantasy setting. To learn more , please visit my website at www.leslieannmoore.com.
That's all for the overt advertising, I swear! I look forward to talking to many new, fellow fantasy fans! :)

Cheers,

Leslie Ann

2. Synopsis of 'Crown Of Stars'
The series is seven volumes long, so it's hard to give a decent summary of it, but the main story line involves a young woman who may or may not be the heir to an empire, a young man who may or may not be a messiah-like figure, and a bastard prince who is told by his father the king on his deathbed to take the throne, against all tradition and a powerful religious establishment that opposes him. All this against a backdrop of war with a people bent on revenge for their long exile, and invasion by a non-human race. It's complicated!!!
But soooo worth reading. The first book is titled 'King's Dragon'.

Cheers,

Leslie Ann

4. I've read the "Crown of Stars" series and for the most
part I enjoyed it. However, I thought she had an extreme amount of trouble tying up all the loose ends in the final book and that kind of let the series down for me. Alain was my favorite character and to be honest I think his part was really badly done at the end. Still, it's a series well worth reading for those that haven't..
