FINALLY: Dance with Dragons has a release date!!!!
http://shelf-life.ew.com/2011/03/03/dance-with-dragons-date/

"Yes, we swear, after waiting six long years since the release of the last novel in the saga, the fabled Book 5 A Dance With Dragons is close enough to being finished* for Martin’s publisher to set a release date. We have that date, exclusively, along a first look at the book’s cover art and an interview with the man himself.

A Dance With Dragons will be published on July 12. The manuscript is huge — the publisher estimates the hardcover edition will run more than 900 pages, putting it about the same length as the longest book in the series, A Storm of Swords. Schedule your summer vacation accordingly."

I have to admit when I read the news, I did a little fist pumping at my desk a la Success Kid.

1. Only just discovered this series
and just finished 'Game of Thrones' only to hear that it's about to become a new HBO series. The trailer looks great, a very literal translation. I'll likely plow through the remaining books just in time for the final installment.

Not my typical reading material, even though I've read other work of Martin's, but I was pleasantly surprised.

3. Since the series will cover one book each season, I'm hoping this means
the next books will come out quickly!

2. I have to confess
that the series has ebbed and flowed for me.

One was awesome, two meh, three THE BEST THING EVAR, and four meh. :(
