Thanks for hosting that thing. Really appreciate it. Got over 8000 hits on that gallery. I think a lot of them came from outside DU since that gallery was on the front page of the smugmug browse for quite sometime. Maybe DU got a few new members. :)

Your photo - and the lights! Do you have your camera's settings handy? I really like the dark blue lights.

10. Here they are...

Nikon 5700, focal length 15.7mm, shutter speed 1/2.5 second, f3.2. RAW format.

Obviously, I used a tripod.

The big post-processing difference was, in Adobe's RAW converter, to boost the color saturation 30% (almost a necessity, from previous experiments in trying to shoot holiday lights -- ideally, you'd boost the saturation until you start seeing color blotches in non-light areas, then back off until they disappear; what I did on this shot was a bit more subtle), and to play with the white balance until it looked as I remembered it. White balance is always a tricky matter in such situations, since the auto balance is going to have an impossible time figuring out what is appropriate with a myriad of deeply-colored lights. I finally wound up with a color temperature of 5500 (near-daylight) and a tint of -12.

I "tried" to get over to our local Zoo Lights. That's a fantastic shot you got there. Very very nice. ya' did what I just couldn't manage at all..... find someway to "compose" a decent holidays lights shot.

Is that green and pink tree a real tree wrapped in lights, or a lit-up cut-out? It looks like a neon apple tree in blossom. :)
