Canon Digital Rebel --Will these lenses help...?
Edited on Sun Mar-19-06 01:09 AM by bliss_eternal
with my images for ebay auctions?

http://cgi.ebay.com/MACRO-LENS-SET-CLOSE-UP-CANON-EOS-DIGITAL-REBEL-350D-XT_W0QQitemZ7600373538QQcategoryZ4687QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

While I know it isn't a true macro lens, merely an extension--I'm wondering if anyone has any experience using this sort of lens to magnify images for photos using a Canon digital rebel? I presently have a EF-S18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 lens for the camera, but would like to be able to take some close up pics for ebay auction photos.

Would getting such an extender help?

Thanks! :hi:

1. Somewhat
They can get you in closer, but I don't know how much flexibility you'd have compared to a true macro / macro zoom lens.

I'd look for an auction with a lower price. These are the kind of items that some people throw in as extras, they just want to be rid of them.

2. Thanks Crisco--
I'll do that! :hi: I'll also keep looking for an actual macro/zoom lens. It sounds like that would be my best bet.
Thanks again--I appreciate your feedback!

3. I guess this is where I'll do my usual macro recommendation
Ever since I purchased the Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro, I tend to rave about it everytime the question of macro lenses for canon cameras comes up.

At $469, it might seem pricey compared to those extenders, but the quality of this lens rivals the Canon higher-end "L" lenses, IMO, which makes it a bargain.

And just cause it's a macro doesn't necessarily mean you have to only use it for macro photography. You can use it as a regular 100 mm telephoto lens. And it's perfect for portraits.

4. I agree, Raging...
I love mine, although I haven't gotten to use it to its full potential yet. I'm so ready for summer.
