Well I went and did it...
between bvar22 and touchdown and having seen my first D200 in NYC at the Photo Expo (in Oct.)and wanting one so bad but swearing I would wait, I just ordered a D200. Between following links to reviews, even the "striping" problem I just couldn't wait any longer and headed out to the local camera shop after surfing the web. I will have to wait for about a month to get it but I am getting it for just under 1100. I have a strong feeling it will be quite a while before the price comes down through Nikon. Once I get the D200 the old D100 is being shipped off to become a full time Infrared camera. Now the hard part will be the waiting.

A plug for local camera shops here. I buy a lot online so not knocking that but never hurts to get to know your local small camera shop people if you have a small shop(not chain)near you. I went armed with prices, info etc. Since I bought other cameras, lens, bags etc from them and they know me I was offered a very good discount and they don't try to sell me what I don't need. Plus if I have any questions, problems etc they are just a drive away.

4. Part of why I

went a head with the price was to let people know that there are still small camera shops that do compete with the net and are willing too. Plus it is nice to have a person to go to if you need help. These guys are really great at helping. I have sent more people there to get help with equipment, that they didn't even buy there, than I can count. I have a lady that is there about every other month for D100 help and they do it even though she got her camera off the net. And they do take care of the regular customers really well. When I got Terry his D70, the kits ended up costing about $400 less than anywhere else and they threw in an extra battery, flash card, UV filter and comfy strap. I never hurts to know your local camera shop if you have one.

2. Damn You, People!
I'm getting ever so tempted to break down and get some sort of EOS, ever since I saw some photos posted in the Yahoo Fujica SLR users' group, from someone who adapted their Fujinon lenses to a digital.

3. I can't wait to see your new photos...
Are you going to post a pic of your camera? I don't know why I didn't think to do that. ;)

7. I'll have to wait to see
if there is that much difference, specially resized for the net. But we are renovating and putting in a studio and I might have a wedding to shoot with out even trying to get one so it might pay for itself plus will be a tax deduction if I make any income from it. Wanted one bad, but was also told repeatedly that I should have 2 cameras to do a wedding , just in case one goes bad. That's my excuse anyway.
I never thought of posting a pick of the camera until bvar and touchdown did it, but I can. And you can always post a pic of your now. I do have to wait a few weeks for it though, but have so much here to get done it is probably a good thing.
