2. Juxtaposition
I like the challenge of the original suggestion.
I'm still thinking about the possibilities.

The online dictionary defines "juxtaposition" as :
"a side-by-side position"

My own understanding of the word is that the two objects placed "side by side" should contain elements that highlight the contrast between the two objects (or ideas).

Would you consider this pic a "juxtaposition"? It was an advertisement on the dictionary webpage for "juxtaposition".

4. Can someone explain.......
Making Connections (a.k.a. Juxtaposition)
:dunce:

Is this opposite but the same? Is it the same but opposite? Is it "things" that join together that are either of these (same, opposite, opposite, same) to form one thing? Or, is it a sexual position that I've never tried? I'm confused.

9. IMHO, the third would, and possibly the first as well...
I'm not sure about the "connection" being made in the second. From what I understand from people who've lived in Alaska or northern British Columbia, having moose in one's backyard is about as common as squirrels elsewhere.

Now, if a moose had wandered downtown, and was photographed passing by a "Moose Lodge," that might have been a clearer juxtaposition!

We do have a Moose Lodge here ... maybe I should stake myself out over there and wait for one of the four-legged variety to pass by. Of the three photos, I was thinking the bottom one probably came closest to fitting the criteria. This really is kind of a tough topic.

6. Would this be?
A communist travel agency. I always thought the lack of full color vacation destination posters said something.

I don't think I'd be tempted to visit the USSR based on this picture.

10. Is that actually a travel agency...?
I would assume any place titled "Soviet airlines" would be an Aeroflot office.

Nonetheless, I think it woulld clearly qualify.

13. You're probably right. It was closed.
Taken in 1991 in East Berlin. Notice the little model airplane? Looks like an American made DC-8.;)

8. A warning for those who would pick "Something Old"...
My position as administrator for this contest forbids me from participating in it, not only as an entrant, but also as a subject. Sorry!

;-)

12. Something old, something new, something borrowed, something ...
... juxtaposed! (After all, the themes combine quite well.)

16. Actually, how do people feel...
...about a combined topic: Juxtaposition of Old and New?

(If there's a tie at the time the poll closes, I may pick this.)

14. regnaD kciN, is this going to end up settled by the SCOTUS?
And if so, where do Roberts and Scalito come down on Juxtaposition?

15. Well, as the Photo Group's Secretary of State...
I can certify that "Making Connections" holds a narrow lead. ;-)

(Of course, this message will become meaningless if anyone else votes after I post this...)

20. Polling is CLOSED
It looks like the closest possible margin: "Making Connections" over "Something Old" by a single vote!
