I thought I'd post some of my fireworks photos
Here is a fireworks collage

and another one

and a 2nd one

and a 3rd one

Every year on the 4th of July houses on this lake set up flares on their property, so here's one

I hope other people have some photos to contribute to this thread.

1. These are great!
The top one is my favorite. I was a pyrotechnician for 3 successive July 4ths once upon a time. I adore fireworks!

But every single time I've tried to take a picture of them, it's come out horribly. It' probably because I favor low speed film which just doesn't perform well in low light areas. :(

2. Great job ralps, fireworks can be hard to photograph.
What with light, movement and color...

These are all good...

P.S. I know I saw that collage earlier this evening...awesome stuff...

5. Here are some from Thunder over Louisville 1999
Edited on Wed Feb-23-05 09:24 PM by smurfygirl
This was probably my favorite Thunder. If you have never been and are close to here you should come. It's absolutely awesome every year.

Every year they set fireworks off on the second street bridge also. It looks like the bridge is on fire, It's super cool.

This is one of the best fireworks shows to photograph. Every year is better than the last and they let off so many fireworks you have time to really learn some skills to photograph fireworks. Then at the end they have a grand finale and let off a bunch at once and it roars and shakes the earth under your feet hence the name thunder. It is usually towards the end of March or early April. Hope you enjoy the pics. I can't find my pics from last year. I'll look around and see if I can find them. Last thunder I had a little bit to much rum in me and forgot about pics til half way through the show and then couldn't hardly stand straight so I only got about 6 clear shots.

7. Hey! We have a photography forum!
A fireworks picture:

and on a related theme, one of my students was performing with the Fire Fabulon troupe last night at the Detroit Institute of Arts, so I went and shot photos.

9. These are really cool. Dyou leave the lens open toget the
streaks? In other words how did you get the second photos? I have a digital camera so I'm not sure I could do that.

11. These are digital
I've got an olympus C5050. I took it off automatic and put it on the mode where I control the shutter speed. The fire ones were shot at a variety of settings, but mostly between 1/4 second to 2 seconds.
And I was using a tripod so the rest of the picture would stay relatively in focus.

I've got more of that series here:

I have absolutely no idea why this is coming out so huge. I did it just like all the others.

10. Cool photo Blue_In_AK
I'm not sure but I think the size depends on how compressed the photo is on the website where it's hosted.
