ORBS in digital photos

Can someone who is an experienced photographer please explain
the cause of "orbs" (perfect circles of light of
different sizes) in digital photography? Out of 100 pics, 11
had orbs, all of the same subject. Lens wasn't dirty, as pics
in beginning and at the end were all absent orbs. All indoors,
in the same lighting!! Thanks for any help you can give me! DC

1. Someone told me recently

that if the lighting is somewhat low, the wider the lens opening (aperture), the more likely it is to flaw, especially at wide angle.

2. Why in some photos,

and not the rest? Same lighting, same aperture for all the photos. None were wide angle. Only photos of the bride and groom while together in a photo, no one else in photo. No orbs when others posed with them!!

3. I really don't know beyond what someone told me

I had orbs in same pics taken in the dark (using flash...lol) of a flowering tree...some with orb and some without.

Could it be that when there were others in the photo group that ambient lighting was altered, or some other light source (could be a very subtle light) no longer was interferring with the photo taken?

I think I've found the answer, or a possible one. I went to Google, typed in "orbs on digital photos", and was amazed at all the hits!! It's becoming more and more prevalent. One explanation was that it happens a lot when there is extreme joy or happiness, and could be spirit related phenomena. Look into it and you'll see what I mean.O8)

if I can only figure out how to do it??!! I have a disc my son burned for me it's all JPG. Out of 100 photos, 11 of them have the orbs. All of my daughter and her new husband. It starts with just a couple of them over her head as she walks down the aisle. Very dimly lit Church. Downstairs in the fellowship hall (well lit) at the reception the orbs only appear on photos of them alone. Photos before and after of different people have no orbs. So, not a dusty lens, and the lighting was the same for one as the other?? I'll try to learn how to cut and paste them , so I can perhaps get some to you tomorrow. It's getting too late to do it tonight. Thanks,...I'll try. I plan on taking the disc to a photography shop tomorrow to get the 11 photos printed, to see if it shows up on paper as well.

7. Use PhotoBucket

Go to http://www.photobucket.com, open up a free account, upload your pics there.

Once uploaded, click on the photobucket photo itself, and check thehow it will appear size-wize. If you need to edit it so it fits better for veiwing here, then just go back to your photobucket pic, clickon edit, and then reduce it there.

To upload those pics to a forum post, copy the the first choice of the three types of veiwing that you see under your photobucket pic...it's the URL selection.

Then, paste that URL into your thread post here :-)

Your photos should be on your hard drive, but have found I can upload pics from one of my external drivers...so you may not need to put the photos on your hard drive. In photobucket there is a browse feature to select the pics you want to upload. So, when browsing am pretty sure you can select your CD disk drive to get the pics if you don't have them on your hard drive.
