Flowers and Easter Bunnies

Here are some flowers that are finally blooming up at 8500 feet in my 'yard'. And pictures of my nieces on Easter.

1. They're so cute....

...and you're so lucky to have flowers blooming. We have 47 little stubby things up, but they're not growing very fast - it's still dipping below freezing at night. :(

2. Your nieces are so cute.

Though they do look they wanted to dig into their baskets instead of waiting until after pictures. My daffodils are pretty much bloomed out, the tulips are up and ready to give it up for the season too. The race is on to see if the guys finish the siding before it becomes helicopter hell since the maple is about ready to start dropping its seeds. The seem to be lots more of them on the tree this year than normal too.

3. The funny thing about my nieces

Both my nieces were adopted from China, but from very different parts of the country. The older one, who is 5, was from northern China. The younger one, who is 3, was from central china. *I* can tell they are from different Chinese ethnic groups, but people ask my sister all the time if they are 'real sisters'... as in, are they blood-related, because they 'look so much alike'. I don't think they look a like at all.

4. I can tell the difference...

The older one definitely has more of a Mongolian look about her. It's kind of indefinable - kind of like how you can tell the difference between Alaska's Eskimos and Indians.

5. Cute girls

My daughter is Vietnamese she's 32 now but my two granddaughters are close in age to your nieces.

6. OT, but the answer to that question is...

"Yes," Depending on how much of a conversation your sister wants to get into she can add, "I expect you are asking whether they are biologically related, and the answer to that question is no."

My family includes siblings to whom I am biologically related, and those to whom I am related by adoption, so I heard that question all too often growing up. I know that generally the inquiry was not meant to be hurtful, but nonetheless the implication that a relationship was not real because it was not a biological one carries a sting, so I try to gently correct it because I know how painful it was for my siblings who joined the family by adoption. They are all my real siblings, just as we are all my parents' real children (the corollary question we also heard...).

Even if it doesn't stop the question from being asked, it will be a real gift to your nieces if your sister can gently but deliberately validate the integrity of her daughter's relationships both to each other and to their mother (your sister).

I'm also a birthmother, so I am doubly sensitive to adoption issues. :)

7. Beautiful flowers and Flower Children photos

I really like the (counting 1, 2, 3..) 1st one and the 6th one.

I'm noticing a lot of bloomin' flowers around. Just haven't taken the time to Stop and Snap the Flowers.:-(

13. Wish I had some pixies for ya'

Maybe next week I can get out. Have a favorite flower haunt that should have some nice blooms. Plum Trees? Are those the ones that have the beautiful pink flowers this time of year? One of these days I'll learn the names of everything.

These are some very precious childhood memories! (Although the pink boots, imo, are a fashion faux pas.)

12. LOL!

They actually had matching red sparkly shoes (think Dorothy's shoes) that they wore to church, but changed when they got home. The 5 year old loves those boots, or anything pink.
