I took a couple of tree shots in Richmond this week and was able to get them developed and uploaded.

Love the second one. The bench gives the scale of the tree. In the first one, the benches become more important than the tree.

7. All these are great pictures

though have to say the second one fits the guide lines best. We ever get this house finished we are going to have to start taking day trips. Richmond is close enough to do a day trip to me but for some reason all I have seen there is produce wholesale places downtown and King's Dominion.

8. They both fit the subject for me. Number 2 is my choice also.

I do like the color in number 1 better (and the third one too), but the statue is distracting for me, partly because it's there and partly because I keep wanting to know what it is since I can't see it clearly.

For number 2, I would prefer a composition with the tree to the left of center and showing more of what the benches are facing, for a more dynamic feel. Also I'm betting that that Photoshop LAB technique in another thread would really add some nice zip to the color and detail of number 2.

Well, now that I scrolled my window all the way to the right (duh), I see that there's more to the right than I saw before. The little tree in front of the benches (along with the glimpse of the darker area of woods behind it) is perfect for what I suggested in the previous paragraph. But I'd crop off about the left fifth of the pic and also a thin strip of the washed out grass in the foreground.

that is why the second pic is a bit "pale". I am not good at using photoshop, beside I am traveling right now and don't even have it.
