My personal "Drive Placebo Crazy" thread
And myself in the process....

Realized that I really don't have much in the way of "trees". Some of these I guess would be considered Landscape or Forest snaps so they would be disqualified.... as I understand the guidelines.
:dunce:

Most of these have already been posted and I'm trying to come up with some new... different.... but I got nuttin'...

1. At least you live in a place that has trees. I live in
Houston; it's pretty much flat as a pancake here, and let's just say the scenery isn't too scenic around these parts. x(

2. Puh-lease!
Houston has some truely gorgeous palms and crepe murtles. You could also go shoot in Kenny Lay's neighborhood, what's that called again? Something like Royal Oaks? I remember seeing some really beautiful trees out that-a-way when I was there.

There are also a couple arboretums fairly close by. Peckerwood Garden looks very nice in spite of its name, and Mercer Arboretum and Botanic Garden is paid for by Harris County tax dollars, so you might as well take advantage of it.

:hi:

6. I meant my immediate neighborhood; it's kind of depressing
around here this time of year. Never heard of Peckerwood Gardens  and will check out that link. On the plus side, everywhere I now go I'm looking at/for trees. I feel like I have a newfound sick obsession!

8. That's how it was last month for me.

I couldn't look at anything--wallpaper, books, Christmas ornaments--without evaluating its texture. Your obsession is much healthier--it's always good to remember to look at, and appreciate, the natural world. :)

I'll be interested in seeing photos of Peckerwood. (Do you think they named it after *? A la his daddy's airport? )

10. How bout' Memorial Park?
This place looks pretty kewl... lots of those big stick things with leaves

Since I got back into this photographemicalistical stuff I've discovered so many places that are in and around the Denver area that I didn't know even existed. As the saying goes..... "right under my nose". There are a few I gravitate toward and return to quite often because they are less congested than others. Oh, and Denver is pretty flat. Many people that live in the Mountains refer to "us" as Flat Landers.

For me the exploring part is fun but it's also very therapeutic just to go out for a few hours with camera and walk around somewhere. I bet there's a shit load of places "right under your nose" that you could find.
:hi:

3. For this contest, I like the 8th shot down.
The one that focuses on a tree, not on branches or trunks or the sky. And... where'd the people go in that second photo?

5. The best part of the contests is
Edited on Sat Sep-09-06 01:53 PM by CC
getting more pictures posted before and after. Of this bunch 4,8 & 9 fits the contest best. I being a good host and not picking pics, just sitting back and enjoying what gets posted. Makes my life so much easier since I have liked all the pics posted so far. In your other threads this one

and this one

fit the contest guide lines really well.

9. That sepia one is special, as is the fifth(?) one down
The reflected tree.

Disclaimer: This opinion is 90% dumb.

13. I like it, too. But it's not "Trees" - it's "Fire".
 IMHO, of course.
