My wife's handmade jewelry.

I have never really taken shots of too many inanimate objects. These turned out alright, not brilliant but alright.















I like the way the light hits some of these. I also used a macro lens on most of the shots so the DOF is shallow.

2. What you didn't see were all the peanut butter

and seed that I slather all over the jewelry. My wife's jewelry has a distinct nutty smell. ;)

4. subtle and charming

Her jewelry is subtle and charming.

The natural light really brings it to life. The color of the amber beads against the blue sky works well.

I could not crop off any part of the jewelry.

Someone I know had an interesting technique for shooting jewelry. She placed it on a sheet of glass and photographed it up through the glass. She probably used a polarizing filter. You could not see the glass and the jewelry appeared to be floating in space.

5. Hey BrightKnight.

My wife and I tried somethign similar placing the jewelry on a flat piece of plexiglass. We shot from under and over but everytime we got reflections and bits of dust were picked up in the photo on the glass. We just couldn't get in clean enough. Some speck of dust would always be there. I'm sure I just need more diffused lighting and filters. Thanks for the suggestion. BTW, the amber shot is probably my favorite as well.
