Water can be a wonderful mirror. It can produce an almost perfect reflection... an artsy reflection ....

I'll start with something a little funky. I know I didn't frame it properly... I'm workin' on that ... I was more interested in getting the reflection and the water drops than composing a great snapshot. But I still like it.

It's about the ONLY thing I miss about living in the Midwest. Colorado goes from Summer to Winter in one day and usually skips the whole Fall thing.

This was taken at Port Angeles, Washington, a couple of years ago. (I know it tilts -- I was just learning how to use the camera.)

If you can, go during the week and on a cloudy day. I kept having these.... what are they called? .. PEOPLE!!! ... walk in my damn shots. When I went it was crowded and very sunny ... too sunny for flowers. I can only imagine the view the people living in these condos must have...

27. One of my friends lives in that building!

So I knew where it was right away. The first time it was around noon and my film was sun-blinded, too. Here's one of my photos from that day. I've doctored this to death on photoshop to try and decrease the bleached out land behind the bird's head, but I'm not satisfied with the result. And of course the bird has never been there again when I've gone. :(

It looks like the swan is floating on clouds. Then, too, the whiteness of teh swan with the dark cast to its reflection looks like a symbolic representation of good and evil. imo, that's the best photo you've posted here, MissHC. :hi:

But I also like the 3rd one. Maybe cause' I just like seeing places I'll probably never see. Ms. F's family is from Poland. They left around WWI. We've talked about going there before the two of us become too old to enjoy it. Hopefully we will....

And to be honest, we haven't been following it. We don't like it up here at all, so we've been focusing all of our energy on getting through this next year and outta here. We love Anchorage, and the southern part of the state, but Fairbanks sucks. My husband doesn't think Eielson will survive though. He thinks that they will definitely close both Eielson and Elmendorf. I don't understand why they would. We were led to believe that the Alaskan bases were America's first defense against an attack from North Korea, other Asian countries and Russia; I don't understand why they would dismantle the bases up here with North Korea being so iffy.

Just a little too nippy up there for my tastes. Yes, come to Anchorage...we need all the Democrats we can get. :) As for Elmendorf, I think the plan is to kind of combine Elmendorf and Fort Rich into some kind of joint Army/Air Force deal. They seem to be fairly safe for the time being, but, yes, I was surprised that they were gutting Eielson what with North Korea so close. I'm sure Uncle Ted is doing some serious talking down in DC, but this may be something that even HE can't stop.

50. No, I've never been over there...

Would love to go, though. We've been planning to do some ferrying out from Homer/Seldovia but just haven't gotten it together yet. That's the one negative about Alaska ... it's such a major deal to get anywhere if you don't have a plane. We've pretty much limited ourselves to Kenai Peninsula and north to Talkeetna or so, Hatcher Pass, etc. This summer we'll probably take a road trip over to the Copper River area, which I love and my husband hasn't seen yet. Those Wrangell mountains are just awesome.
