So what do you do in the middle of a snowstorm on a Sunday afternoon? Drive 20 miles out of town through ice and snow to a party, that's what. :)
My friend and favorite candidate, Diane Benson, invited some of us campaign peeps out to Chugiak to celebrate her best buddy/ex-husband/campaign treasurer Tony Vita's 62nd birthday yesterday afternoon. The theme was the '70s, so we all dug out our tie-dyes and bellbottoms, and Diane played her '70s collection from Time-Life. It was a really great party.
Here's Diane, HullBoss and our friend Vanessa.
Some of the gang. Phil Munger on the right is one of my favorite local bloggers at
http://www.progressivealaska.blogspot.com/ JeffR, you might remember the old guy is Alaska Ed, who did that great post in the Alaska forum before our primary. Also we have Lori, Pamela, Tommy and Judy, Phil's wife.
Some more. These are the COOL Alaskans, the real ones -- not like Sarah Palin.
Diane and the birthday boy
Tony brought out his disco ball, which hadn't even been out of its box since 1978. We played some games, ate a bunch of food, and then we went around the table and each of us told what we were doing in 1978 (if we could remember...there seemed to be a lot of drugs and alcohol involved). Then Tony played a tape of what he was doing in 1978 -- appearing on $20,000 Pyramid" with Adrienne Barbeau and Lavar Burton. !! Dick Clark actually had his hands on Tony's shoulders. !! There he is on the right. (He won $350. )
"Angela" Benson
"Abbie" Vita
Phil brought his "Twister" game.
