1. Your first two pics are full
of power. Thoroughly enjoyed all of your pictures.

"Rounding the Spit", I love to sail. It's such a peaceful sport, so in tuned to nature.

5. Thanks!
I love getting out on the water myself, but haven't done so for a long time. These days I just stand longingly on shore with a telephoto.

2. Great shots, JeffR
You do wonderful things with black and white.

I'm inspired now. I'll be posting my own here in the next couple of days. It wasn't a bad year here, really, aside from not having a summer. :(

6. Looking forward to seeing yours, Blue.
As I was trying to put together a dozen shots, I realized '08 was a classic case of making hay while the sun shined. I missed so many weeks of great shooting weather in the summer and fall. 7-day workweeks back to back to back just don't lend themselves to long blissful days with the camera, though they're great for staying solvent.

3. Man, oh man.....
.....where do I start?

They are all fabulous shots, full of emotion, full of "the moment," and they evoke the real enjoyment that you put into them.

I'm personally partial to B&W, with a special interest in the "geometry" of things. Lines. Shapes. Designs. Etc. So, the Maverick-y pic really caught my eye.

But, I gotta admit, your composition and exposure on Webster's Falls may just make it my favorite. You managed to capture a real sense of the water's power (starting at the brink of the falls), as well as its fully natural transformation into a more gentle, bucolic, meandering force, as it trails off into the woods. Very nice. Well done.

Thanks for sharing, and here's looking forward to a shutter-filled 2009 for everyone here.

8. Hi, Mary! Thanks very much.
That little tableau under the bridge was disturbing and fascinating. The boots were neatly set out as if waiting for their owner to return. I've often wondered about the story behind the scene.

Wow! :applause: My other favorite would be "Overtime." That one is moody and emotive.

13. Very nice group Jeff
I like Websters Falls. I haven't had a lot of time to hang out since last March, it is good to see these year-in-review threads to catch up. IIRC you have had your SLR for about a year now. Has the new camera made it easier to find time to shoot? Have a great 2009...very exiting time for all here at DU.

17. Thank you. 16 months or so now, I think.
Never enough time for photography, except when I'm getting paid for it.

Here's to a great '09 for you!

20. Can't believe I have not told you thank you for these yet. Came to
see them several times :)
Can't tell you a favorite but I DO LOVE Overtime.

Did yOu by chance take the photo: "Framed"? It stays with me.
I came to this board when there were no names when it was shown.
Still a newcomer.

21. Thanks, Mira.
Yes, "Framed" was mine if you're thinking of the one shot from the fire escape.
