My best fireworks shot EVER. And I'm not kidding.
Today was the celebration of Alaska's 50th year of statehood, and all kinds of fun things were going on downtown. I have a bunch of cool shots to share, but this one comes first. There were two or three spotlights around the convention center which are the blue beams, and of course that's a glass building on the right. I love it when I get lucky. :)

2. I'm in total agreement
with you, that truly is a nice shot. The beams appear to frame the fireworks and the reflection on the building to the right certainly give the composition some depth.

I always enjoy your pictures.

5. Great image... by the way that firework is called a "Dragon Eggs" shell.
Each of the small points gives off a crackling sound and the cumulative effect is a "sizzling" sound in the air.

6. The fireworks last night were amazing.
They were shooting them off the roofs of three separate buildings downtown, and they just went on and on. It was about 20 below outside, but we were all happy to stand around in the cold ooh-ing and ah-ing. The show was billed as the greatest fireworks display ever in Alaska, and it certainly lived up to it.

10. Nice!
It's amazing to me that they can set off fireworks like this (and like the ones in Anchorage) in the middle of the city without catching everything on fire.

8. I like it because it almost looks like a living organism one sees in
the deep. I also like it because it isn't the typical glamour shot. It's almost menacing. The spot lights add to the menace.

12. It looks like someone blew on an electric white dandylion to spread the fuzzy seeds, very very nice.
